Hendaye is located 10 km from the campsite in an outstanding setting between the Atlantic Ocean and the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains. The outstanding Abbadia estate with its cliffs and its chateau, a long fine sandy beach which skirts pleasantly around the town and the winding bends of the Bidasoa between France and Spain make Hendaye a district which is particularly sensitive to the environment.
The close proximity of Spain makes the area particularly advantageous for those keen to discover something new culturally. Locally, the towns of Irun and Hondarribia border Hendaye thanks to the river Bidasoa and many exchange programmes have been organised as part of the Consorcio "Bidasoa Txingudi". In the past, the people of Hendaye also saw the passing of numerous great men, particularly thanks to Pheasant Island on the Bidasoa.
Hendaye is twinned with Peebles in Scotland and Viana do Castelo in Portugal.
